About Us

Spencers Wood Carnival was started in 2007 by friends Liz Ratcliffe and Debbie Johnson-Wait, who set out to organise an event which would bring the whole community together for a day of family fun, with fairground rides, good food and drink, a range of side-shows and a variety of entertainment for all ages. The aim is to provide something for everyone, from puppet shows, craft workshops and games for the children to live music from local bands to round off the day.  And for those who are after a bit of retail therapy, we have commercial stalls selling quality crafts and speciality foods as well.

The event is designed to build up community spirit, and has a real village focus, with Spencers Wood businesses responsible for much of the event catering, and local schools, churches, clubs and groups running stalls to raise some funds for themselves.  Any profits made centrally are shared out between the participating community organisations.
